Borderlands 4 has a lot of weapons, with the team at Gearbox often boasting about how many different weapon combinations there are in the game. However, there is a limited number of legendary items for you to get your hands on.
Borderlands: 10 Weirdest Weapons, Ranked
Borderlands may have bazillions of guns, but these ten are the weirdest that you can find across the series.
If you are a big fan of shotguns, you might be trying to figure out which shotgun you should use with your build. Which of these guns has the stopping power to take down bosses like Captain Willis?
With there being over 20 legendary shotguns in the game, it might take some time to narrow down which of these is the best in Borderlands 4, but let’s figure it out.
10
Anarchy
Bring Back Gaige
Starting off the list of Borderlands 4 shotguns strong is the Anarchy, a shotgun returning from Borderlands 3, and one that is reminiscent of Gaige’s action skill from Borderlands 2.
This shotgun is an absolute beast when it comes to taking down enemies. With its legendary perk Mutualism, it gets a stack of Mutualism each time you get a kill or perform an auto-reload.
Each stack of this perk grants the shotgun an additional 15% damage, meaning it can melt enemies if you are willing to put in the time to stack up the perk enough. Unfortunately, the downside is that you lose all accuracy with this weapon, as the stacks also remove 15% accuracy each.

Rainbow Vomit
Ew
- Location: Dropped by Leader Willem in the Grindstone of the Worthy section of Carcadia Burn.
There’s nothing like vomiting elemental damage all over your enemies, especially in a Borderlands game. After all, this is the type of chaotic nature gamers crave from this looter shooter series.
The Rainbow Vomit shotgun has the special ability called Color Spray, which allows it to shoot bullets that are a combination of various elements. For instance, one can roll shooting incendiary, cryo, and corrosive, while another could roll cryo, radiation, and shock. It is randomized each time this weapon drops.
This weapon is perfect for those who want to use an elemental damage build, but it works best on Harlowe. Of course, the elemental damage is great for any vault hunter who wants to easily apply status effects.

8
Linebacker
Hike
- Location: Dropped by Skyspanner Kratch in the Cuspid Climb section of Terminus Range.
While Mr. Torgue isn’t officially in the game, there are plenty of Torgue-branded weapons for you to get your hands on and the Linebacker is one of them. This weapon is all about big explosions, and it will not disappoint when it comes to clearing crowds of enemies.
The Linebacker has the ability Full Coverage, which allows it to shoot bouncing projectiles that increase their damage by 25% and radius by 35% per bounce. These shots tend to bounce around five times in the direction you fire, creating a cone-like AOE.
Despite the weapon being a Torgue shotgun, the bullets will bounce through enemies, damaging them in the process, and damaging additional enemies behind them. This makes the Linebacker perfect for clearing crowds and great for large bosses.
7
Kickballer
Give it a Kick
- Location: Dropped by Sludgemaw in the northern part of the Idolator’s Noose section of the Fadefields.
The Kickballer is one of the more unique legendary shotguns in Borderlands 4. This is because the weapon fires a ball that bounces around the environment instead of a normal shot.
The ball fired from this weapon leaves clouds of elemental damage where it hits, and enemies caught within these areas receive a lot of elemental damage. This is another weapon that works very well with elemental damage builds.
Thanks to the type of projectile it fires, the Kickerballer can deal massive amounts of damage, but it can only truly shine when you are using the special crit knife, as this will allow you to proc constant critical hits, decimating foes in the process.
6
Golden God
It’s Always Sunny
The Golden God is a brilliant weapon that shines brighter than others on the list but not as bright as others. It has the ability Rage, which essentially makes its magazine size however much ammo you have remaining.
Since the bulletforge does not break when this gun overheats, you can continuously fire it, but doing so will consume greater amounts of ammo, making this weapon a huge bullet hog.
Holding down the trigger, you can rip through enemies and bosses, but you might find yourself buying more ammo than usual to keep up with this weapon’s consumption. Despite the economic backlash, the Golden God still stands as a must-have for many Borderlands 4 players.
5
Doeshot
Not Buckshot
- Location: Dropped by Bore-Tex in the Legend of the Stone Demon DLC.
This is where we start getting into weapons that can deal insane amounts of damage, and it all starts with the Doeshot. This weapon is from the Legend of the Stone Demon DLC, and it is a must-have if you own the expansions.
This weapon normally comes with five rounds in the magazine, and its special ability Doer makes it fire out all five rounds in rapid succession. While this is very powerful, there is a variant of this weapon that makes it even better.
What you want is a Doeshot shotgun with a Ripper magazine. This will make it so that the gun continuously fires out shots in rapid-fire. This will also make it one of the best shotguns you can get your hands on.

These assault rifles are legendary.

Convergence
Bullets Converge
- Location: Dropped by Bramblesong in the northern part of the Ruined Sumplands section of Terminus Range.
Returning from Borderlands 3, the Convergence is a unique shotgun with the ability Asymptotic, which makes it so a swarm of bullets converges on any enemy hit by this weapon.
This ability makes the Convergence a force to be reckoned with, as it will shred through enemy health bars with ease. Thanks to its ability, it can also stack damage buffs that require hits much faster.
While it won’t dish out insane amounts of damage with a single shot, the Convergence is a great all-around weapon that won’t let you down and will consistently perform at its highest potential without any special parts.
3
Mantra
It’s a Saying
Just like in Borderlands 3, there is a shotgun in Borderlands 4 that deals melee damage, and it is called the Mantra. The bullets fired from this weapon are elemental fists that look similar to the firsts Amara summons as part of her Siren abilities.
You can buff this weapon by increasing your splash damage, melee damage, gun damage, and elemental damage, making it extremely powerful and capable of one-shotting most enemies. There are even videos of players taking out bosses with two shots from this weapon.
The downside to this weapon is its fire rate. It needs to be charged before it will fire, and when it does get off its shots, it only fires two at a time, making it rather slow.
2
T.K’s Wave
Ride the Wave
- Location: Dropped by Rocken Roller in the Ruined Sumplands section of Carcadia Burn.
You might remember T.K’s Wave from the original Borderlands, or maybe from Borderlands 3. The weapon has made multiple appearances throughout the years of the franchise’s existence, and each time it has been a lovely reminder of our old pal.
In Borderlands 4, this weapon fires a line of bullets that flow in a wave pattern. These bullets spread and bounce as they travel. Of course, the best thing about this weapon is that it is a Jakobs shotgun, meaning it deals high critical damage.
While the standard variant of this weapon is strong, and can easily help you with mobbing, you will want a Torgue-licensed variant, as this will allow you to fire sticky grenades, dealing monstrous amounts of damage to enemies, including bosses.
1
Bod
Counts as Everything
- Location: Dropped by Axemaul in the Carcadia District.
If you are a fan of Borderlands 4, you probably aren’t surprised that the Bod is considered the best shotgun in the game. After all, it has the broken ability All-Arounder that makes it count as a shotgun, assault rifle, sniper rifle, pistol, and smg.
This ability allows you to stack insane amounts of damage on this weapon since almost any bonus works on it. Thanks to this bonus, the Bod is able to work wonders with pretty much any build as well, making it one of the best weapons in the game in general.
Many have shown off how this weapon can tear through health bars in an instant. Its consistent damage output and broken ability put it at the top of this list.
