OpenAI has signed content deals with more than 20 publishers since 2023, from the Associated Press to Vogue’s owner, Condé Nast.
Each deal works roughly the same way: the publisher licenses its content to OpenAI, and ChatGPT shows summaries of that content with attribution and a link back to the source.
That makes these publishers some of the most visible sites in ChatGPT, so if one of them writes about your brand, ChatGPT may show that article to its users.
That lean has grown since: in our query fan-out study, partner sites among ChatGPT’s 200 most-cited domains went from 7.5% of its citations in March 2026 to 15.8% in July, and still held 12.5% in late September.
To see how visible they actually are, we checked 85 partner domains in Ahrefs Brand Radar and counted how many US ChatGPT answers cite each one.
Ten partner domains are among the 50 sites ChatGPT cites most often in our sample, and 47 are in the top 500.
The most-cited partners are mostly review and lifestyle sites, not news sites: Vogue, Car and Driver, Tom’s Guide, Good Housekeeping and TechRadar each appear in more than 30,000 ChatGPT answers.
Find the sites ChatGPT cites most in your niche
You can check any brand’s ChatGPT visibility, or see which sites get cited most in your market, in Brand Radar.
- Go to Brand Radar.
- Enter keywords related to your niche.
- Open the Cited domains report and pick ChatGPT.
Cross-check the list against the partners below. A partner site that’s already cited in your niche is a strong PR target.
How we measured citations
“ChatGPT citations” is the number of US ChatGPT answers in Brand Radar’s latest snapshot (November 2026) that link to the domain, including its subdomains. Brand Radar’s ChatGPT index holds 5.5 million US answers.
“Rank” is the domain’s position among the 2,000 sites ChatGPT cites most across a broad sample of questions. Publishers that write mainly in languages other than English are undercounted, because the data is US-only.
These counts are a single snapshot, and individual citations move a lot from day to day: when Glen tracked 1,300+ prompts daily for four weeks, only about a quarter of the pages ChatGPT cited for a prompt were cited again the next day.
The most-cited domains were far steadier, changing by about 14% from one day to the next, so the big partner sites in this article are the most reliable figures in it.
Future
Future is the UK specialist publisher behind TechRadar, Tom’s Guide, PC Gamer and Who What Wear, and it gets more ChatGPT citations than any other partner group in our data.
ChatGPT users will be able to access content from across Future’s portfolio, with attribution and links to the full original articles for transparency and further information. Source, December 2024
Tom’s Guide is the 15th most-cited site in ChatGPT across our sample, and TechRadar is 24th. Future’s strength is product reviews and buying advice, which is exactly the kind of question people ask ChatGPT to answer.
Condé Nast
Condé Nast owns Vogue, Wired, GQ, The New Yorker and Bon Appétit, and seven of its nine sites are in ChatGPT’s top 250.
We’re announcing a partnership with Condé Nast to display content from top brands like Vogue, The New Yorker, Condé Nast Traveler, GQ, Architectural Digest, Vanity Fair, Wired, Bon Appétit, and more, within our products, including ChatGPT and our SearchGPT prototype. Source, August 2024
Vogue is the most-cited partner domain in ChatGPT, with 42,108 citations, and Wired is 34th. The New Yorker and Vanity Fair, the group’s most prestigious titles, get around 3,000 citations each.
Hearst
Hearst’s deal covers more than 20 magazine brands and 40+ newspapers, and its magazines do far better in ChatGPT than its newspapers.
OpenAI will incorporate content from Hearst’s celebrated brands of trusted journalism, including Houston Chronicle, San Francisco Chronicle, Esquire, Cosmopolitan, ELLE, Runner’s World, Women’s Health and others, into its advanced AI products. Source, October 2024
Car and Driver (41,603) and Good Housekeeping (35,728) are both in ChatGPT’s top 25 cited sites. The San Francisco Chronicle and Houston Chronicle each get fewer than 4,000 citations.
Dotdash Meredith (People Inc.)
Dotdash Meredith, now called People Inc., brought 40+ lifestyle brands to ChatGPT, from People to Allrecipes and Investopedia.
As part of the agreement, OpenAI will display content and links attributed to DDM in relevant ChatGPT responses. Source, May 2024
Its food, home and style sites (Allrecipes, Food & Wine, The Spruce, InStyle, Better Homes & Gardens) all land in ChatGPT’s top 150. Investopedia, one of the best-known finance sites on the web, only gets 3,217 citations, so a partnership doesn’t lift every brand in a portfolio equally.
News Corp
News Corp’s multi-year deal gives OpenAI current and archived content from The Wall Street Journal, the New York Post, The Times and its Australian papers.
Through this partnership, OpenAI has permission to display content from News Corp mastheads in response to user questions and to enhance its products. Source, May 2024
The Wall Street Journal does most of the work here, with 18,890 ChatGPT citations. None of the group’s other sites reach 6,000.
Vox Media
Vox Media’s deal covers Vox, The Verge, Eater, New York Magazine, The Cut, Vulture and SB Nation.
Vox Media’s respected portfolio of properties including Vox, The Verge, Eater, New York Magazine, The Cut, Vulture, and SB Nation, will help inform ChatGPT’s 100 million users, receiving brand attribution and audience referrals. Source, May 2024
Eater is Vox Media’s most-cited site in ChatGPT (13,600), ahead of The Verge (9,963). Vox.com itself gets only 325 citations.
The Washington Post
The Washington Post signed on in April 2025, and it’s the most-cited single-site news partner in our data.
As part of this partnership, ChatGPT will display summaries, quotes, and links to original reporting from The Post in response to relevant questions. Source, April 2025
ChatGPT cites washingtonpost.com 25,614 times, which puts it 48th among ChatGPT’s most-cited sites.
The Guardian
The Guardian’s partnership promised ChatGPT users extended summaries of its reporting, and it’s the 50th most-cited site in ChatGPT in our sample.
Through this partnership, ChatGPT’s 300 million weekly global users will gain direct access and receive extended summaries to the Guardian’s trusted reporting. Source, February 2025
ChatGPT cites the Guardian 24,336 times, just behind The Washington Post.
Axel Springer
Axel Springer was the first publisher to sign a deal like this, covering Business Insider, Politico, Bild and Welt.
ChatGPT users around the world will receive summaries of selected global news content from Axel Springer’s media brands including POLITICO, BUSINESS INSIDER, and European properties BILD and WELT, including otherwise paid content. Source, December 2023
Business Insider gets 16,415 ChatGPT citations. Politico barely registers, with 10.
Associated Press
The AP deal was OpenAI’s first publisher agreement, and it was framed around sharing content and technology rather than citations.
The Associated Press and OpenAI have reached an agreement to share access to select news content and technology as they examine potential use cases for generative AI in news products and services. Source, July 2023
Even so, ChatGPT cites apnews.com 15,761 times, putting it just outside the top 100.
Financial Times
The FT’s licensing deal brings attributed summaries and links to its journalism into ChatGPT.
Through the partnership, ChatGPT users will be able to see select attributed summaries, quotes and rich links to FT journalism in response to relevant queries. Source, April 2024
ChatGPT cites ft.com 7,588 times, which is notable for a site with a hard paywall.
Axios
OpenAI’s Axios deal paired a content partnership with funding for four new Axios Local newsrooms.
Today, we are announcing a new content partnership with Axios, and funding to help expand its local news coverage by building newsrooms enabled by our technology in four new cities. Source, January 2025
Axios gets 7,469 ChatGPT citations, close to the FT.
TIME
TIME’s deal opened up its archive going back 101 years.
OpenAI will gain access to current and historic content from TIME’s extensive archives from the last 101 years to enhance its products and display in response to user inquiries, featuring a citation and link back to the original source on Time.com. Source, June 2024
Despite the archive deal, time.com gets 6,226 ChatGPT citations and ranks 354th.
PRISA Media
PRISA, the Spanish group behind El País and AS, signed alongside Le Monde to bring Spanish-language news into ChatGPT.
Over the coming months, ChatGPT users will be able to interact with relevant news content from these publishers through select summaries with attribution and enhanced links to the original articles. Source, March 2024
Our data is US-only, so Spanish-language publishers are underrepresented here.
The Times Group (Bennett, Coleman & Co.)
India’s largest media company signed in September 2026, covering The Times of India and The Economic Times.
When relevant summaries or excerpts from BCCL publications are included in responses to user queries, ChatGPT will identify the publication and provide a direct link to the original article. Source, September 2026
The deal is only weeks old, and our data is US-only, so these numbers are a baseline rather than a verdict.
Indian Express Group
The Indian Express Group’s deal covers The Indian Express and The Financial Express, across live and archived content in seven languages.
Selected summaries or excerpts from Express Group journalism may appear in ChatGPT responses to relevant user queries. These results will identify the source and provide a direct link to the original article. Source, September 2026
Like the Times Group deal, this one is recent, so treat these figures as a starting point.
Grupo Folha and Grupo UOL
OpenAI’s first media partnership in Brazil brought Folha de S.Paulo and UOL’s reporting into ChatGPT.
More than 900 million weekly active ChatGPT users around the world will be able to access high-quality journalism and see summaries based on Folha de S.Paulo and UOL’s reporting. Source, May 2026
UOL is Portuguese-language, so a US sample undercounts it.
The Atlantic
The Atlantic’s deal positions it as a premium news source in ChatGPT, but it’s one of the least-cited US partners in our data.
Queries that surface The Atlantic will include attribution and a link to read the full article on theatlantic.com. Source, May 2024
ChatGPT cites theatlantic.com 724 times. A partnership makes a publisher eligible to appear; it doesn’t guarantee it does.
Le Monde
Le Monde signed in March 2024 to bring French-language news into ChatGPT.
Our partnerships will enable ChatGPT users to engage with Le Monde and Prisa Media’s high-quality content on recent events in ChatGPT. Source, March 2024
Le Monde gets 713 ChatGPT citations in our US data, which undercounts French-language publishers.
Schibsted Media
Schibsted’s deal covers Nordic newspapers including VG, Aftenposten, Aftonbladet and Svenska Dagbladet.
The articles will be used to deliver up-to-date news summaries, with clear attribution back to Schibsted Media’s brands, allowing users to verify information. Source, February 2025
These are Norwegian and Swedish titles, so a US sample barely touches them.
Village Media
Village Media runs local news sites across Ontario, and its partnership started with an AI tool for finding community health and care services.
OpenAI and Village Media today announced a partnership to make trusted local information and community resources easier to find. Source, September 2026
These are hyperlocal Canadian sites, so low US citation counts are expected.
Reddit and Stack Overflow
OpenAI has data deals with two platforms that work differently from the publisher partnerships, giving it API access to user-generated content.
OpenAI will bring enhanced Reddit content to ChatGPT and new products, helping users discover and engage with Reddit communities. Source, May 2024
OpenAI will also surface validated technical knowledge from Stack Overflow directly in ChatGPT, giving users easy access to trusted, attributed, accurate, and highly technical knowledge.Source, May 2024
Reddit is the second most-cited site in ChatGPT, behind Wikipedia. Stack Overflow barely appears, with 130 citations.
Reddit’s deal hasn’t protected it from a steep fall, though: in our fan-out study, about 1 in 5 ChatGPT answers cited Reddit in March 2026, compared with about 1 in 43 by late September.
Reddit is losing Google traffic too, and in its Q3 2026 earnings call it said search referrals fell by more than one million a week in October, mainly because of AI Overviews and AI Mode.
Reddit is still worth your attention, because when we compared seven types of brand mentions with AI visibility, mentions in Reddit threads that rank in Google had the strongest link, with a correlation of about 0.75.
Final thoughts
A partnership makes a publisher eligible to show up in ChatGPT, but it doesn’t guarantee it: Vogue is cited 42,108 times, and The Atlantic 724.
So pick PR targets by how often ChatGPT already cites them in your niche, and use the partner list to break ties.
