Hollow Knight: Silksong: All Mister Mushroom Locations

The mysterious Mushroom Man himself is back in Hollow Knight: Silksong. What a day to be alive! Anyone who completed the passing of the age achievement in the original Hollow Knight will remember desperately hunting for that darned mushroom all over the map! It was a frustrating task indeed!

While originally, I was going to say this isn’t as challenging, the final location will test your platforming skills to the limit. Maybe not as much as the path of pain, but I reckon it’s pretty close.

In any case, for those who don’t want to unravel Mr Mushroom’s typically cryptic riddle, here are the 7 locations you’ll need to head to.

To even start this quest, you must be in Act 3 and have earned the Silk Soar skill from the Abyss.

The Poem Unravelled

Before you go on your merry way, hunting for our bizarre fungal friend, you must first find a rather hidden location, right in the very corner of the map.

Head over to the Putrified Ducts, past Fleatopia and across the lake. Before entering the little cave at the back, where you get the Craftmetal, you can jump up the wall until you reach a little platform, where the light is shining down.

Use your ability to soar up to the top of the cave, and you’ll find a hidden area filled with mushrooms you might remember from the original Hollow Knight.

Head over to the tablet and read the inscription. After that, you’ll be prompted to begin the Quest.

Moss Grotto

First, head over to Bone Bottom Bellway Station. Run over to the far left, where the Ruined Chapel is, and then drop down. Head a little bit right, and you will see the mushrooms from the Fungal Wastes on the ground.

Play your Needolin, as Mr Mushroom dramatically rises from the ground and then speak to him. Of course, he doesn’t speak directly to you, in typical fashion. Exhaust his dialogue, and he will burrow away.

Bone Bottom

The next location is one you’ll be very familiar with. Luckily for us, Mr Mushrom doesn’t travel very far this time, appearing on the little platform above Bone Bottom town, where Shakra used to sell her maps. Converse with him as usual, and he will move on.

Far Fields

Next up, you’ll be tasked to search for a “Scorched Field”. I mean, that can only mean one thing, honestly. Travel to the Far Fields Bellway Station and then head down and east to the area where you completed the spine quest all that time ago.

Mr Mushroom will be located on a platform just to the right of where you did that horrendous volcano climb. If in doubt, check the images provided for an exact location.

Greymoor

Now, “towers spinning”, of course, refers to the windmills scattered around Greymoor. This is the first kind of tricky spot. Head over to the Greymoor Bellway Station and up through the tower directly above. Once you reach the top, head west, and there will be a little tunnel that runs up in the caves above.

Speak with Mr Mushroom, and he will impart more divine wisdom. But before you go, you can use your soar ability to head into a new area above called the Wisp Thicket. It’s pretty small and has a boss fight that may make you bash your head against a wall.

The Slab

Now, the poem talks about cages. Yep, time to go back to The Slab. Lovely… The poem here is specifically talking about the First Sinner, another boss you may have faced already.

Head to the Slab Bellway Station and head into the lower area that you unlocked with the 3rd Slab Key. You should have this key by now, but if by some chance you haven’t gotten it, it can be found in the Putrified Ducts, near the house with the Broodfeast Quest Giver. The First Sinner is a pretty tricky fight, but a lot of fun to learn. Once completed, you’ll receive the Rune Rage silk skill.

Talk with Mr Mushroom, who is just left of the cage, and he will vanish.

Mount Fay

Mount Fay again? At this point, I feel like I’ve climbed this blasted mountain 100 times. In any case, “fell heart of frost” refers to the massive bird that sits atop the mountain. Of course, now you have the Faydown cloak, so this is going to be way easier than the first time.

In addition, if you want to cheese the area a bit, you can actually just climb up the wall to the far right of the area, the one that borders the Slab, and finish the first half of the climb without any platforming. Make your way to the top, and Mr Mushroom will be there chatting with the bug-bird.

The Cradle

Returning to Grand Mother Silk

Ok, it’s time for the big one. I’m not going to sugarcoat this one. This final spot is just harsh. You’ll see what I mean when you get there. Trust me.

If you have it, please use the Ascendant’s Grip Tool. It will be invaluable here.

Firstly, head to Songclave and run along the long corridor to the west. You’ll notice a pile of rubble that has fallen from the ceiling. Look at the picture above to get the exact spot. Soar up there and begin your ascent to the Cradle. And no, this isn’t the hard part. You’ll recognise this area from where you dropped at the start of Act 3.

Head up into the Cradle where you fought Lace, and then keep going higher with your Soar ability, until you reach the Grand Mother Silk boss arena. Here you can claim the Pale Nails Silk Skill.

Now, just a step to the right of where you found the skill, head upwards again to find a little entrance. Head inside.

Keep heading upwards, doing some light platforming and avoiding the wall spiders. You’ll soon reach a bench. Savour this feeling, because now the real challenge begins.

The Ultimate Ascent

For the route I used, refer to my gameplay above. It’s definitely not perfect, but it works.

The majority of the next climb is going to be primarily airborne, requiring you to grip onto walls, Clawline little nut objects, bounce off flying enemies, and pretty much use everything you’ve learnt in the game so far. In addition, while on the ground, you’ll be targeted by burrowing worms, so you can’t stand still for too long.

Keep your cool, and if you begin to fall, remember to pogo off of enemies below or grip onto a wall to regain your composure. As I mentioned earlier with the Ascendant’s Grip, you can stay hanging on a wall indefinitely to give you a second to catch your breath. It’s a tricky climb, but you get into the flow soon enough. The second time I did it was way easier.

Once you reach the top, play your Needolin and talk to Mr Mushroom for the final time. To get the achievement, you’ll first have to achieve the true ending of the game. But I won’t spoil that for you. Good Luck!
