I could really stand to get more fish in my diet. Fish is rich in all kinds of vitamins and minerals, and it’s good for managing your cholesterol. I’m a bit of a picky eater, though, and can’t really eat fish unless it’s fried or prepared with some kind of accouterment like a miso glaze.
It’s a habit I ought to break. Maybe if I got a spooky hooded cloak and marooned myself on a random island somewhere, it’d encourage me to eat more fish, or at least harass passing fishermen for more fish. Hey, it seems to be working for the Hooded Figures in Dredge.
In Dredge, there are four Hooded Figures (five if you have the DLC installed) scattered around the ocean and camped out on small islands. Each of these… pleasant individuals will request three specific sea creatures for you to fish up and bring to them so they can be devoured.
Complete these requests, and you’ll receive several very helpful stat-boosting books to peruse on your travels. The Figures’ tastes are quite varied, though, so you’ll need to travel around to the different islands and employ a variety of different fishing methods to get everything you need.
Incidentally, in the original launch of Dredge, getting fish for the Hooded Figures was a timed affair. If you took too many days to bring their requested catches back, they’d starve to death, and the whole thing would be a wash. Thankfully, this was patched out in version 1.1.0, so you can safely take your time now.
Figure In Blue Location And Request
This azure-clad fellow can be found at coordinates M7, on a little island a short stride southeast from the island Little Marrow is on. As this one is closest to the Marrows, there’s a good chance he’ll be the first one you encounter. For this and the other Hooded Figures, you can either catch all the fish ahead of time and turn them in all at once, or get the request first and then go find them. Additionally, unless otherwise specified, all of these fish can be either the normal kind or an aberrant variety.
Here’s what’s on the Figure in Blue’s menu, their locations, and what gear you’ll need:
|
Blue Mackerel |
Daytime, Coastal, Rod or Trawl, located in The Marrows |
|---|---|
|
Tiger Mackerel |
Daytime, Coastal, Rod or Trawl, located at Gale Cliffs |
|
Snake Mackerel |
Daytime or Nighttime, Coastal, Rod or Trawl, located at Devil’s Spine |
Bring this bushel of mackerel back to the Figure in Blue, and in return, you’ll receive the book Haggling And Bartering: A Guide. Read this bit of literature, and you’ll get 5% increased sell prices and 5% decreased buy prices at all shops.
Figure In Gold Location And Request
This fancy chap can be found at coordinates K2 on the southernmost island between Gale Cliffs and Stellar Basin. This one’s hankering for some particularly pointy seafood, including crab, which means you’ll need a sufficiently large crab pot on standby.
Here’s what the Figure in Gold’s hungry for, their locations, and what gear you’ll need:
|
Red Snapper |
Daytime, Coastal, Rod or Trawl, located at Stellar Basin |
|---|---|
|
Fangtooth |
Daytime or Nighttime, Abyssal, Rod, located at Stellar Basin |
|
Blue Crab |
Daytime or Nighttime, Crab, Crab Pot at low depth (0-5M), located at Stellar Basin |
Bring the Figure in Gold their sharpened smorgasbord, and they’ll present you with the book Advanced Fishing. Enjoy it in your downtime, and all of your rods will reel fish with 15% greater efficiency.
Figure In Red Location And Request
This blood-red mystery is located at coordinates L14, within the middle of the small cluster of islands in the northwest of Devil’s Spine. This one’s got a big appetite, requesting several particularly hefty specimens from around Devil’s Spine and The Marrows.
Here’s what the Figure in Red is craving, their locations, and what gear you’ll need:
|
Cusk Eel |
Nighttime, Volcanic, Rod or Trawl, located at Devil’s Spine |
|---|---|
|
Sailfish |
Daytime, Oceanic, Rod or Trawl, located in The Marrows |
|
Frilled Shark |
Daytime or Nighttime, Volcanic, Rod, located at Devil’s Spine |
Return to the Figure in Red with this heavy load of seafood, and your prize will be the book Nautical Engineering. After you finish this book, any equipment with a durability meter like a trawling net will degrade 15% slower than before.
Figure In Purple Location And Request
This violet-clad dude is located at coordinates E10, on the northern point of a small island to the south of the Twisted Strand. This one’s going to require the biggest variety of equipment, not to mention a bit of lugging, as one of your targets is all the way down at Stellar Basin.
Here’s what’s going on the Figure in Purple’s plate, their locations, and what gear you’ll need:
|
Tarpon |
Daytime or Nighttime, Shallow, Rod or Trawl, located at Twisted Strand |
|---|---|
|
Horseshoe Crab |
Daytime or Nighttime, Crab, Crab Pot at mid-depth (0-10M), located at Twisted Strand |
|
Barreleye |
Daytime or Nighttime, Abyssal, Rod, located at Stellar Basin |
Make this elaborate delivery to the Figure in Purple, and as payment, they’ll give you the book Pushing the Limit: Engines. With the help of this educational literature, all engines will output 7.5% greater movement speed than what their descriptions say.
Figure In White Location And Request
If you have Dredge’s The Pale Reach DLC installed, an extra Hooded Figure will be added to the mix. This wispy person can be found at coordinates K-5 within the Pale Reach map, specifically on the east side of the easternmost island in the area.
This one’s a little tricky, as the Figure in White is on the hunt for three specific aberrations located around the Pale Reach. Remember, aberrations can spawn in any patch of disturbed water, though they’re guaranteed to appear in spots with a blue glow over them. Fishing at night and with a high panic level, as well as using aberrated equipment like the Encrusted Talisman, can also improve your odds of finding aberrations.
Here’s what the Figure in White wants on ice, their locations, and what gear you’ll need:
|
Fractilline Icefish (Aberrated Icefish) |
Daytime or Nighttime, Ice, Rod or Trawl, located in Pale Reach |
|---|---|
|
Fallen Stars (Aberrated Sea Stars) |
Daytime or Nighttime, Ice, Crab Pot at high depth (50M+), located in Pale Reach |
|
Craterous Seer (Aberrated Stargazer) |
Daytime or Nighttime, Ice, Trawl, located in Pale Reach |
Bring the Figure in White their exceptionally strange selections, and you’ll receive the Book of Astral Symbols in return. Reading this book raises your overall odds of finding aberrations by 4%, which would’ve been helpful earlier, but whatever.
