Pokémon Go ‘Pokémon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event’ guide

Pokémon Go is hosting a “Pokémon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event” to run from Oct. 16-20, to… well, celebrate the aforementioned game launch.

This event is actually extremely bare bones. I guess they figured everyone would be too busy playing Pokémon Legends: Z-A this weekend?

The most important perk for this event is the return of legacy moves for the Legends Z-A starters. Evolving Bayleef into Meganium will teach it Frenzy Plant, evolving Croconaw into Feraligatr will teach it Hydro Cannon, and evolving Pignite into Emboar will teach it Blast Burn. Charged TMs can also roll these moves on these Pokémon as well, if you already evolved them, but only during this event.

Mega raids will also be showing up more frequently during this event.

Pokémon Go ‘Pokémon Legends: Z-A Celebration Event’ Timed Research and reward

Right off the bat, you’ll be tasked with picking between Chikorita, Totodile, or Tepig. The option you pick will influence what tasks you get (as they’ll focus on the respective Pokémon’s type and evolutions) and give candy for that Pokémon. Notably, you will also get a special background version of whichever Pokémon you pick. The Pokémon you pick will also be more likely to appear in your Daily Adventure Incense during the event period.

Which one should you pick? Feraligatr is the most meta-relevant, but any of them are good choices, as we will likely get Mega Evolutions for these added to Pokémon Go down the line.

• Power up grass-/water-/fire-type Pokémon 20 times (50 Chikorita/Totodile/Tepig Candy)
• Use 25,000 Stardust (50 Chikorita/Totodile/Tepig Candy)

Rewards: 6,000 XP, 10 Poké Balls

‘Pokémon Legends: Z-A’ step 3 of 3

• Evolve a Bayleef/Croconaw/Pignite (3 Razz Berries)
• Earn 12 hearts with your buddy (3 Pinap Berries)

Rewards: 1 Poffin, 12 Chikorita/Totodile/Tepig Candy XL
