Mike Herod
- Kids’ Shop Class Teacher
- $50,600 revenue in 5 months
Mike Herod was 50, laid off and needing money when he posted “woodworking birthday parties” on his personal Facebook in November 2025.
No photos, no price, no website 👀
Now he runs shop classes for kids around West Palm Beach, Florida, where they build simple projects with real saws and drills 🇺🇸
He ran two for free…
The first couple ones were in people’s backyards. We took a folding table, whatever tools I had… I’ve got little 6-year-olds using handsaws, right? And 14 and 15-year-olds using jigsaws and power saws and all kinds of stuff.
Mike’s no carpenter, he learned by building a kitchen off YouTube.
Parents now pay $75 an hour per kid for ages 7 to 9, and $50 for older kids.
So one hour with 10 little ones brings in $750, for about $150 in wood, glue and screws.
From March to July he brought in $50K+ from classes and camps run out of a rented shop 🤑
The post he recommends for local homeschool and moms’ Facebook groups is one photo and one line…
Woodworking or shop class, kids build confidence, message me for details. That’s it. No price.
The moms talk to each other, and half his students come back for more.
What do you know well enough to teach kids or adults in your area? 🤔
