OpenAI Launches ChatGPT for Financial Services With Built-In Data – Unite.AI

OpenAI on September 10, 2026 launched ChatGPT for Financial Services, a tailored ChatGPT Work experience that pairs built-in financial data with the reasoning of its GPT-6 Astra model to help teams develop research, financial models, and customized client materials.

Design Partnership With Morgan Stanley and Evercore

OpenAI said the product was shaped by a design partnership with Morgan Stanley and Evercore, which helped it pinpoint where it can solve the biggest challenges for financial institutions. The early work with the two firms steered the product’s starting point to investment banking and equity research, where reliable access to data and high-quality artifact creation proved to be the biggest pain points for their teams. OpenAI said the partner work will inform post-training, product improvements, and its expansion into other financial services categories.

“The promise of frontier research becomes real when it helps our people do the work that matters for our clients,” Morgan Stanley said in OpenAI’s announcement. The firm said it is working alongside OpenAI to bring that intelligence into how it researches companies, develops analysis, and prepares advice, testing ideas together and helping shape how the technology develops. Evercore said it is working closely with OpenAI to shape how the technology can deepen the insights behind its advice while building on the judgment and rigorous standards its clients expect.

Built-In Data and Provider Connections

ChatGPT for Financial Services includes datasets from Daloopa, PitchBook, and LSEG News covering earnings transcripts, financial statements, company fundamentals, and private companies. Teams can begin working with these datasets immediately, with no separate contracts to negotiate or connectors to set up. OpenAI indexes and hosts the data on its own infrastructure, which it said improves retrieval and latency and enables granular citations, so bankers can trace figures and claims back to their sources and check the evidence as an analysis develops.

OpenAI gave the example of a banker running a P&L normalization analysis who can inspect the reconciliation and notes behind an adjusted EBITDA figure, understand which costs were excluded, and decide how to use it in a valuation. The company said that as coverage expands it will post-train its models to find, interpret, and use these datasets at the level of the best analysts.

For firms that already hold data subscriptions, OpenAI is working with S&P Capital IQ, LSEG, MSCI, Dow Jones Factiva, and Moody’s on shared sign-in and entitlement integrations, under which providers can recognize users through their ChatGPT sign-in and enable automatic access to data they are already entitled to. OpenAI said it has also optimized some of the most-used MCP connectors in financial services, including S&P Global and FactSet, for immediate use in the product, and that its broader connector ecosystem includes more than 50 connectors, among them Datasite, Box, Preqin, and Intapp.

Executives of the data providers described their roles in the announcement. Thomas Li, CEO of Daloopa, said the partnership continues his company’s strategy of serving as the data infrastructure for AI and agentic workflows in financial services. Tom Van Buskirk, executive vice president of technology and engineering at PitchBook, said private markets have long been difficult to see into and described the partnership as a sign of where the industry is headed: toward answers built on trusted data. Sally Moore, chief client officer and co-head of market intelligence for Kensho Data & Platforms at S&P Global, said bringing the S&P Global AI Data Portal to ChatGPT gives financial professionals verified intelligence where they already work. Emily Prince, group head of enterprise AI at LSEG, said the collaboration advances LSEG’s Everywhere AI strategy through MCP connectivity and a curated Reuters news selection.

GPT-6 Astra Performance, Security, and Availability

OpenAI describes GPT-6 Astra as state of the art across three capabilities it identifies as core to financial services work: information retrieval, financial reasoning, and artifact generation. The model is included natively in the product, and OpenAI said newer models will be available out of the box as they are released. On OpenAI’s OfficeQA Pro benchmark, which tests whether AI agents can find and analyze information across U.S. Treasury Bulletins, including complex financial tables, charts, and supporting footnotes, GPT-6 Astra scores 69.9%, compared with 60.2% for GPT-5.6 Sol, according to OpenAI. The company said the product can research across multiple sources, trace figures across different periods, and interpret annotations in public data, and that teams can then build interactive charts and visualizations with the underlying data and sources available for review.

Administrators can publish Excel, Word, and PowerPoint templates through a dedicated admin page, and with firm templates and style guides configured, teams can turn analysis into valuation models, research notes, and pitchbooks in their firm’s format and style.

ChatGPT for Financial Services builds on ChatGPT Enterprise’s SAML SSO, SCIM provisioning, and role-based access controls. OpenAI said business data is not used to train its models by default and is encrypted at rest and in transit, and that administrators can configure workspace retention. Compliance teams can export supported workspace logs through the OpenAI Compliance Platform into their existing audit and investigation workflows. Firms can manage access to skills and apps by role, enable or disable supported app read and write actions, and create multiple workspaces to enforce information barriers.

OpenAI said financial services firms and developers can also use its API to build specialized applications, describing the new product as one way it serves customers across the industry. ChatGPT for Financial Services is available to eligible financial institutions, and OpenAI directs interested firms to contact the company or their account team.
