In a surprising announcement, a mainline Professor Layton game is coming to consoles outside of Nintendo for the first time.
Professor Layton and the new World of Steam was announced back in 2023 and has finally been given a release window: it’ll be out sometime this year.
But the big news is that it will also launch on PC and PS5 alongside Switch and Switch 2. While spinoffs have ventured onto various platforms over the years, the mainline Professor Layton games have stuck to Nintendo platforms, so to the best of my knowledge this will be the first mainline title to launch on non-Nintendo consoles.
The Professor Layton series is one I’ve completely missed out on over the years, so this might the best time to jump in.
